DAVID SILCOX ON ROBERT MURRAY

Saturday November 14, 2009 @ 2pm

Barbara Edwards Contemporary is pleased to present a personal response to the current exhibition ROBERT MURRAY by David Silcox, prominent art historian and President of Sotheby's Canada. The talk will be the first in the BEC Lecture Series, a forum offering insights and discussion on exhibitions and issues in contemporary art.

A recipient of the Order of Canada, Silcox is an accomplished author with many award-winning publications to his credit. His knowledge of Canadian art and his personal interest in Murray's work informs his approach to the exhibition. Considered one of the most significant sculptors of his generation, Robert Murray has been honoured with a major retrospective by the National Gallery of Canada and is a fellow member of the Order of Canada. This exhibition focuses on the formal relationship that inspired his most famous work entitled FERUS.

Please join us Saturday November 14th at 2pm.

Reception to follow.
